  1. Open Outlook and click Get Add-ins in the toolbar (or Get apps in newer versions)
  2. Search for "Folder Suggest"
  3. Click Add
  4. Open any email — the Suggest Folder button appears in the toolbar or ribbon

Manual install (if Marketplace is blocked by your organisation)

If your organisation restricts the Microsoft Marketplace, you can install manually using a manifest file.

Step 1 — Download the manifest file

Step 2 — Add it to Outlook

Outlook on the web, New Outlook for Windows, or Mac

  1. Sign in to Outlook on the web (outlook.live.com or outlook.office.com)
  2. Click the Settings gear (top right) → View all Outlook settings
  3. Go to MailAdd-ins
  4. Under My add-ins, click + AddAdd from File
  5. Select the manifest.xml you downloaded and click Install
  6. A Suggest Folder button will appear in your toolbar when you open an email

Classic Outlook for Windows (traditional ribbon app)

  1. Go to the Home tab and click Get Add-ins (or Store on older versions)
  2. Click My Add-ins at the top of the panel
  3. Scroll to Custom Add-ins at the bottom → + Add a custom add-inAdd from File
  4. Select the manifest.xml you downloaded and click Install
  5. The Suggest Folder button appears in the ribbon on the Home tab

For IT admins — deploy to your whole organisation

If you manage Microsoft 365, you can deploy Folder Suggest to all users (or specific groups) via the Admin Center.

Option 1 — Deploy from Microsoft Marketplace (recommended)

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center
  2. Go to SettingsIntegrated Apps
  3. Search for "Folder Suggest" in the Marketplace catalog
  4. Click Get it now and follow the prompts
  5. Under Assign users, choose Entire organisation, specific security groups, or specific users
  6. Click Deploy

Option 2 — Deploy via custom manifest

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center
  2. Go to SettingsIntegrated AppsUpload custom apps
  3. Select Office Add-in as the app type
  4. Choose one of:
    • Upload manifest file — use the download button above to get the file
    • Provide link to manifest — paste this URL:
      https://app.foldersuggest.com/manifest.xml
  5. Under Assign users, choose Entire organisation, specific security groups, or specific users
  6. Click Deploy
Once deployed, users don't need to do anything. The Suggest Folder button appears automatically in their Outlook ribbon — no installation steps on their end.

What permissions does it request?

Folder Suggest requests two Microsoft Graph permissions:
